Physical and chemical properties:
Chromium nitrate – nine-water is a purplish-red, deliquescent crystal, decomposes when heated to 125.5°C, melting point 60°C. It is soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, acetone and inorganic acids. Soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, acetone and inorganic acids. Its aqueous solution is green when heated, and rapidly changes to red-purple after cooling. It is corrosive and can cause burns. Contact with flammable materials can cause combustion.
Uses:
Chromium nitrate – IX water is commonly used in the preparation of chromium-containing catalysts, in the printing and dyeing industry as a coal dyeing agent, in glass and ceramic glazes and as a corrosion inhibitor.
