According to statistics from China Customs, the import volume of butadiene styrene rubber in November 2023 was 28900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 17.0% and a month on month increase of 2.12%. From January to October, a total of 327300 tons of butadiene styrene rubber were imported, a year-on-year increase of 14.96%. The overall changes in domestic production are not significant. The shutdown of Li Changrong's (Huizhou) high-tech material butadiene styrene rubber plant on November 29th did not have a significant impact. However, in terms of imports, it is necessary to consider the buying power attracted by high prices in September and the impact of the National Day holiday on import clearance in October. Therefore, the month on month growth in imports in November is reflected, and the demand also provides support for the import of butadiene styrene rubber. According to statistical data, the main sources of imports of styrene butadiene rubber in November were South Korea, Russia, and Singapore. However, in terms of import volume, imports from Russia continued to decline, with an import volume of only 3800 tons.
In terms of exports, according to Chinese customs data, the export volume of butadiene styrene rubber in November 2023 was 12100 tons, a decrease of 0.82% month on month and a year-on-year increase of 7.08%.
In November, the main export destination for styrene butadiene rubber remained Southeast Asia, accounting for 78.13% of the total domestic exports. Due to the continuous decline in the price of butadiene styrene rubber since October, overseas tire companies are not very enthusiastic about buying, which poses a constraint on the export of butadiene styrene rubber.
In December, most of the butadiene styrene rubber plants were operating normally, but the shutdown of Qilu Petrochemical's olefins due to unforeseen circumstances affected the production of butadiene styrene rubber after the 24th. The domestic market prices have significantly increased, and some businesses have also considered foreign markets in moderation, which has driven imports from January to February.
