China's low-carbon market has great potential and prospects for international cooperation

2023/6/19

Since the establishment of the "double carbon" target, more and more low carbon technology application scenarios have emerged. At the "2023 Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Technology, Products and Achievements Expo", the reporter learned that many Chinese and foreign companies are optimistic about China's low-carbon market and have expressed their intention to cooperate.

Li Xiaoxu, secretary-general of the China Building Energy Conservation Association Passive Building Committee, has repeatedly mentioned the word "cooperation".

Doing a good job of building insulation can effectively reduce carbon emissions. BASF Group, a German chemical company, has used polyurethane foam with extremely low thermal conductivity to make building facades. However, in order to avoid thermal bridge effect, the metal window frames of the building also need special design and materials, and then integrated on the building through certain technology, in order to form a high-performance building enclosure system with building airtightness.

Thus, a cooperation scenario emerged. The local company Lansdowne Holdings/Lansdowne Green Technology has technology systems and integrated technologies for the building as a whole, and BASF has energy-saving building materials, and the combination of the two can achieve complementary advantages.

"We are a relatively upstream company, and the solutions we provide must be applied to be meaningful." Mao Yu, senior manager of marketing at BASF (China) Ltd, said that the use of many materials also needs to be combined with design, otherwise it is difficult to really produce results.

How to design a lower carbon building solution? It requires consideration of factors such as the building's volume factor and the surrounding environment, "We have to conduct a series of simulations and combine the simulation results with construction experience to get the optimal solution." Li Xiaoxu said the information then has to be provided to upstream suppliers to make iterative updates to the products according to the requirements, "This is one of the reasons why we have kept working together for many years, to promote each other's technology upgrades."

After the organic combination up of green products and technologies, how to test the effect of emission reduction? During this year's fair, the "CN100 Building Carbon Neutral Initiative Mechanism" (hereinafter referred to as CN100) was officially released. This is an energy-saving and carbon-reduction mechanism for public buildings in Shanghai, which attracts voluntary participation of public building owners to commit to carbon neutral targets, develop carbon neutral plans and achieve carbon neutral operation by establishing widely recognized building carbon neutral evaluation standards and evaluation mechanisms.

"Many domestic building managers are still confused about ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance), and many companies have a demand for consulting to achieve low carbon, so the low carbon related market is actually very big, and a whole process consulting service industry around 'double carbon' should emerge. CN100 is running towards this." In this context, international cooperation and exchange is essential," said Mao Qin, director of the Shanghai Changning District Low Carbon Center. "In the CN100 design process, we have drawn on international experience. For buildings with foreign investment backgrounds, joining CN100 also has many advantages, and several such buildings have already made clear their intention to join."

"International cooperation" appears frequently in the mouths of exhibitors, and the person in charge of AECOM enterprise located at the other end of the exhibition said, "We have also made international cooperation in the field of cutting-edge technology research and development, and joint research and development and mutual learning can go farther."

According to the introduction, the enterprise previously established a global intelligence laboratory, forming a global expert team plus localized innovation services, with the expert team consisting of experts from across regions and disciplines. Shen Xiaofei, head of the lab's China region, said the Chinese market has gradually built up a focus on high-performance buildings and green buildings. But the international market's leadership is reflected in the integration of energy-saving and low-carbon concepts into the initial conceptual design stage, "We hope to bring cutting-edge international practical experience and innovative workflows to the Chinese market."

JIN DUN CHEMICAL has built a special (meth) acrylic monomer manufacturing base in ZHEJIANG province. This makes sure the stable supply of HEMA, HPMA, HEA, HPA, GMA with high level quality. Our special acrylate monomers are widely used for thermosetting acrylic resins, crosslinkable emulsion polymers, acrylate anaerobic adhesive, two-component acrylate adhesive, solvent acrylate adhesive, emulsion acrylate adhesive, paper finishing agent and painting acrylic resins in adhesive. We have also developed the new and special (meth) acrylic monomers and derivatives. Such as the fluorinated acrylate monomers, It can be widely used in coating leveling agent, paints, inks, photosensitive resins, optical materials, fiber treatment, modifier for plastic or rubber field. We are aiming to be the top supplier in the field of special acrylate monomers, to share our rich experience with better quality products and professional service.
